Note to Self #2: Do not be a coward.

Note to Self #2: Do not be a coward.

Calling someone a coward is a really strong accusation. By "coward" I don't mean like not wanting to go on a roller coaster because you are scared of heights and falling (Confession : that would be me >.<). By "coward" I mean not speaking up and/or owning up just because you want to avoid the consequences.

At the point of heat, not saying anything might seem like a good thing. But literally not answering anything on the topic of argument AT ALL, is just plain escaping responsibility. It does not mean that by replying, you are admitting defeat. The person just needs answers, or they need to hear your side of the story before being able to calm down.

It just angers me when I get angry at you, demanding for an answer; it shows that I genuinely like you enough for me to me to even get angry at you at all. By not responding, it makes things even worse because I do not get any sort of answer from you, it angers me even more.

Shirking responsibility is the worst thing anyone can do. I was taught from young to always be a responsible person, I absolutely hate it when someone shirks responsibility. How do you expect someone to ever trust you with anything if you never want to own up to anything? Taking responsibility helps you to realise your own mistakes, so you can learn from them and better yourself as a person. Not only on the bad parts of life, by taking responsibility for the good parts of life, you also learn more on the good parts of yourself that you never knew. Others will learn to take you more seriously with everything you do.

I have also been a coward at times, but I am also slowly learning more about myself everyday by learning to own up to my mistakes.

Lesson to learn today: Be responsible for everything that you do, learn from your achievements and mistakes.

XOXO

Note to Self #1 : Do not be a selfish hypocrite.

Note to Self #1 : Do not be a selfish hypocrite.

Hi everyone, I decided that I'm going to start this series on my blog called "Note to Self", wherever I come across things that I dislike about other people or myself, I can write it down to vent my frustrations, and also to put a reminder out there for myself to look back and remind myself not to be someone that I hate.

Ok, so as the title suggests, today's Note to Self is going to be on the topic of :
"Do not be a selfish hypocrite".

I'll admit, I've been a hypocrite to others many more times than I remember. However, it will never be for reasons that might actually hurt someone's feelings (at least from my point of view it doesn't). If I have ever hurt anyone unintentionally with my words, I apologise. I'm the type of person that expects the same of everyone as I do myself; hence I would not expect them to feel hurt if I do not myself. Even if I do intentionally want that person to get hurt, I expect them to forget about it really quickly, as I do myself.

More often than not, I get thrown one side of an argument at me one day, only to come back the next day and have the other side of the argument thrown back at me just because the other party wanted things to go their way. For example, I was told not to see the worst in people, which made total sense at the time, so I accepted the comment as it was handed to me. The next day however, that statement was turned on me; I became the worst person in the eyes of another. Why do that?? It is not the first time I've been stuck in situations like this, only to be told off that I am just being picky and ... just being difficult. I'm not being picky if it happens on a regular basis. The more I look st it, the more it just seems like pure manipulation.

I really do not want to turn into that person that does these types of things. I want to achieve something because I earned it with my own abilities, using the right methods, and not stoop down to manipulation to get what I want.

Lesson to learn today: Use the right ways to get what you want.

XOXO

May 2015 Makeup Haul Part 2 - Aritaum & ColourPop

Hi everyone! As promised, here is the second half of my crazy online shopping haul! This time, it is all online shopping: Aritaum & ColourPop.

I blame my Korean lip product makeup obsession, namely on sweet Sunny from Sunnydahye on Youtube. (see her channel here ) She regularly posts Korean cosmetics hauls, making me crave Korean cosmetics all the time. She regularly features Aritaum on her channel, which made me so intrigued to try it out.

I made an order from Qoo10 online from my favourite seller Best Price Breezy (see the shop here ). I ordered all my products from Aritaum. Since I'm a lip product junkie, I ordered 4 lip products, with 2 free. YIPEE. I recently also got into using more eyehsadows, and heard that Aritaum eyeshadows are really great. So I also got 2 eyeshadows from their regular line, plus 1 free. I also ordered one of their Shine Fix Eyes, which look super shimmery and pretty. With my order, I got 2 free face masks and 1 Ginger Sugar lip balm. Look at the pics!

Aritaum World Glam Coating Tint - New York
Aritaum World Glam Coating Tint - London
Arituam Wannabe Cushion Tint - Bell
Arituam Wannabe Cushion Tint - Janet
Aritaum Mono Eyes - #29 Secret Beam
Aritaum Mono Eyes - #35 Take That
Aritaum Shine Fix Eyes - #09 Santa Baby

Here are the free gifts I received!

Aritaum World Glam Coating Tint - Cape Town
Aritaum Ginger Sugar Tint Lip Balm - #3
Aritaum Mono Eyes - can't remember the number
Arituam Wannabe Cushion Tint - Rose

Next up, we have ColourPop Cosmetics. If you haven't heard of ColourPop cosmetics, it is a new brand that started out with their lipsticks and eyeshadows, now they are branching out into cheek colours too. They recently celebrated their first birthday! I came to know of this brand because of it blowing up all over Youtube about the unique formula of the eyshadows, and their Lippie Stix and lip liners. And the best part of it all, all their eyeshadows, lippie stix, and lip liners are USD5 a pop! Their cheek products are USD8 a pop! Super affordable, and super great quality! What's not to like!

I've been stalking their website and social media for a long time, waiting for something I really wanted before I decided to make an order. And finally, it happened. They came out with 15 different types of highlighters!!! I freaked out when I saw it on their site, and wanted every single shade!!! But sadly, I decided to be a little more realistic, and chose only a few shades to bring home.. If I had more space to house my makeup obsession, I would have gotten all 15 shades! Ok, now on to the pictures:

:D

It came with some cards on how to use their products.

Here's everything I got:

(from top to bottom, left to right)

Super Shock Cheek (Pearlised) - Highly Waisted
Super Shock Cheek (Pearlised) - Teasecake
Super Shock Cheek (Pearlised) - Wisp
Super Shock Cheek (Pearlised) - Smokin' Whistles

Where the Light is Foursome:
Super Shock Shadow (Matte) - Glow
Super Shock Shadow (Matte) - Cornelious
Super Shock Shadow (Pearlised) - Kathleenlights

Here are some close-up shots of all the beauty of the sparkliness of everything. Even the packaging is so pretty for such an affordable product!

Thanks for reading everyone! Hope you enjoyed the 2 part haul! I hope I won't be spending anymore money, but its GSS time, so it might be really hard to resist :P

Till next time!

XOXO Rui Ting :)

Catch Up + May 2015 Makeup Haul Part 1 - Sephora & Takashimaya

Hi all! Long time no blog! Things have been really busy since I last posted 2 years ago! Time flies doesn't it! I was still studying at university then! Busy with studies, exams, and extra curricular activities, I finally graduated last year! *raise the roof whoop whoop* No more studying forever!!!

I found my (first) full-time job just after my exams ended in May last year. As I wanted to end my schooling years with a bang, I signed up to help out in one of my school camps. Keep in mind I sgned up for this before I knew I was going to start work soon. Because of the camp prep, I was kind of in and out of work. As a result, with many other (very unpleasant) factors, I left the job. It was not a good fit for me, and I did not want to carry on there anymore. After 2-3  months of searching, I found THE ONE (a job I mean). Needless to say, I am happily employed at my first full-time job :D

Enough with all the blabber, now on to the exciting stuff. I recently went crazy shopping for makeup. (When have I ever not been crazy about makeup? LoL)  Both online and physical shopping. SO MANY NEW THINGS I NEED TO TRY. Stay tuned next week for the next half of my online shopping spree! (**hint hint: it involves ColourPop and Aritaum!!!)

There was a 20% Sephora Black Card Private Sale last week from 13 to 16 May if I'm not mistaken. They had one of these last year too, but was not as crowded. I bought my things on Thursday at the Bugis+ outlet, which was not crowded. I wanted to get more stuff at the Ion outlet on Saturday, and the queue was crazy long. I gave up even trying to browse around after like 5 minutes. (From the cashier inside, all the way to the door! There must be like at least 50 people in queue! How is it a Private Sale when there are like hundreds of people perceptually in the store???)

Anyway, here's what I got from Sephora @ Bugis+:

Tarte CC Undereye Corrector - Light-Medium
Clinique Cheek Pop Bluch Pop - 01 Ginger Pop
Marc Jacobs Highliner - (Luna)tic
Marc Jacobs Highliner - (Obey)ge

The Tarte Concealer is a repurchase! This is the second one I'm using. It took the place of the other undereye/highlighting concealer I had, which was the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind. I got to know of this awesomeness through the beautiful AmeliaLiana on Youtube. Love her channel and her blog! You can view her blog here.

I already own one of the Cheek Pops in Peach Pop. Love the colour and pigmentation of these Clinique blushes! This is the first Clinique product I've ever owned, and am excited to try more in the future! I've seen many other blogs and Youbtubers talking about the Spring-Summer 2015 new colour releases for these Cheek Pops and they are all soooo pretty!!! I do hope they launch in on our sunny island of Singapore, I really want to own all the colours! I especially love the shade Cola Pop! (See Cola Pop on Temptalia here)

I've heard that the Marc Jacobs liners were pretty good. After swatching a few of them, I fell in love with these 2 shades and decided to get them during the sale. Score :)

Here's what I got at Takashimaya during their sale last week. P.S. sorry I couldn't rotate the photos upright! Bear with me!

YSL Tint in Oil - 6
Bobbi Brown Lipgloss - Pink Pop
Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Macscara
Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow - Candlelit

After hearing FleurdeForce talking so much about the YSL Tint in Oil, (see her blog post here), I decided to get one too! Fleur mentioned that it was super moisturising, which instantly got me hooked. I HATE having dry and cracked lips, it hurts and annoys me like crazy! I swatched it before when I was walking around in Tangs. It had a lovely smell, and even though the colour was really sheer, I just wanted to make it work. I rubbed the swatch all over my hand after I was done with the swatching, and it made my hand feel so moisturised! Hooked I was! If it wasn't for the price tag, I would have gotten a few more :P

I always liked cream shadows. While waiting for my mother at the Bobbi Brown counter, I swatched a few of their cream shadows, and decided to get this colour. It looked really pretty swatched, and I love cream shadows and they are quick and easy to use. Looking forward to using it!
The lipgloss and mascara was given to me by my mother, which was a gift with purchase at Bobbi Brown. I've tried their lipgloss once, way too sticky for my liking, When my hair sticks to the lipgloss, and I pull my hair out, it will kind of leave a trail of lipgloss on my hair. Ew. But looking at the pretty colour and the pretty packaging, I'm going to give it another try. I've never tried their mascaras, looking forward!

I have not used any of these products yet, but if  anybody wants swatches or a review of any of the items, just leave a comment, and I might do as you wish. :)
I've missed blogging, gives me such satisfaction when readers comment. It's like making new friends, such fun! I'll try my best to have a post up more often to keep the momentum going.

Have a great week ahead everyone!

New Polishes of Jan 2013/ NOTM

Hey everyone! Hope that the first month of 2013 has been treating you well!

Now on to the fun stuff :) Here are my recent nail polish purchases!!

I recently got this Nicole by OPI polish from Watsons called A Gold Winter's Night. It's kinda like a clear base with tiny lilac coloured glitter, and gold, lilac, blue and green long glitters suspended. Super pretty and a lot cheaper than normal OPI polishes at $12.90!

The next polish you see here is Butler Please by Essie. It is from their Winter 2012 collection. It is such a pretty periwinkle electric blue, if I described it correctly. The pictures I took with my camera here completely does not do the colour justice AT ALL. But anyway, here's a pic with flash:

And one without flash, under indoor lighting.

And here's how the blue is supposed to look like (3rd from the left) :

And here's me wearing it (with flash):

This next one is China Glaze's Dynasty. I got it at a bazaar in school for only $5 :D It's a sheer pinkish-red base with silver glitters in it. Suuuper pretty. It totally caught my eye in the sunlight. haha

I ordered 2 polishes from Smoochiezz from OPI, and they are from the OPI X Mariah Carey Collection. Photo here:

They actually came out with 8 colours in total, with 4 of them with a new "liquid sand" formula. The 2 colours I ordered are both liquid sand. This one is in Can't Let Go:

This one is in Stay The Night:

I've tried swatching these yesterday, and they dry matte, and really feels like sand on your nails!!! So cool!! I will post a NOTM once I've used it.

And here are the last 5 of my polishes. These are from Julep's Winter 2012 Collection. I saw good reviews of Julep online and so went ahead and ordered them.

I will try to post NOTMs when I've used these.

Have a happy Febuary and CNY for those who celebrate! Thanks for reading!
